The STREET X is an urban sports watch designed by Polar for people who train, work and live in the city. It features multi-GNSS GPS, an AMOLED touchscreen, a precision optical heart rate monitor and MIL-STD-810H military resistance certification. It's aimed at hybrid training practitioners - urban running, weight training, team sports - who want a connected watch capable of taking in as much as analysing.
The Street X's body is made from reinforced bio-sourced polymer with an 8-screw frame that distributes shocks throughout the structure. The 1.28'' AMOLED screen (416 × 416 px) is protected by Gorilla Glass, touch-sensitive, always on, and automatically adjusts to ambient brightness. The MIL-STD-810H certification covers shock, vibration, extreme temperatures and humidity - from -20°C to +50°C. What's more, the WR50 waterproofing allows swimming in pools. The raised, textured buttons can still be used with gloves or wet hands, which makes a real difference in wet weather on an underground platform or on a winter outing.
On the sensor side, the Street X packs the Precision Prime™ GEN 3.5 for heart rate, complemented by a barometer, compass magnetometer, gyroscope, accelerometer and GEN 1 night skin temperature sensor. Positioning is based on multi-GNSS GPS (GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS) with assistance - particularly useful in dense urban environments where the canyons of buildings fragment the signal. Autonomy : 10 days in connected watch mode, 43 hours in high-performance mode with GPS.
Expert advice : In hybrid training - alternating strength training/cardio - activate the Training Load Pro™ exercise-rest guide, which analyses the heart rate between sets to calculate the optimum recovery time. This is much more appropriate than a fixed timer, especially at the end of a session when recovery times naturally become longer.
The integrated LED torch with red light mode - this is where it makes all the difference for early morning runs or late night rides back into town. White light for visibility, red mode so as not to dazzle passers-by or interfere with your night vision. On paper, it seems anecdotal. On a run at 6am in winter, you suddenly appreciate it differently. Street X also features phone notifications, music controls, two-day weather, multiple alarms and a 'find my phone' function - without ever weighing down the interface. Thanks to the integrated komoot, step-by-step guided routes are available directly on your wrist, with a return to the starting point if you go off on an ad hoc basis.
On the recovery side, the watch embeds Nightly Recharge™, Sleep Plus Stages™, SleepWise™ and Recovery Pro™ for a complete check-up night after night. Every morning FitSpark® offers suggestions for sessions adapted to your actual state of fitness - cardio, strengthening or mobility. FuelWise™ sends smart refuelling reminders on long rides. The Street X is not a watch that you strip of its functions at night: it continues to work while you sleep.
For a hybrid athlete who juggles between the gym, 10km runs around the ring road and Sunday swimming sessions, this is probably the Polar watch that covers the widest spectrum without any unacceptable compromises.
