The LOOP is a screenless activity wristband from Polar, a Finnish brand that has been pioneering heart measurement since 1977. Designed for people who want reliable monitoring of their sleep, recovery and daily activity without the distractions of a wrist-mounted screen. Wear it 24 hours a day, in the gym, at the office or even in the water.
The Polar Loop embeds the Precision Prime™ GEN 3.5 optical sensor to measure continuous heart rate, as well as nocturnal heart rate variability (HRV) - two key pieces of data for assessing the body's true state of recovery. The sleep monitoring via Sleep Plus Stages™ distinguishes between light, deep and REM phases, and the morning score provided by SleepWise™ allows you to anticipate your level of alertness during the day. On the other hand, the Nightly Recharge™ function cross-references heart rate, VFC and breathing to give a concrete assessment of night-time recovery. At 29g total weight and 19.5g without the strap, you can't feel it. Neither day nor night.
Automatic workout detection identifies the start and end of a session based on heart rate and movement - without manipulation. For outdoor sessions, the phone's GPS can be used via the Polar Flow application. WR30 resistance: the Loop also tracks swimming, although the specific metrics for swimming (distance, movement) are not available.
Expert advice : The Polar Loop can be worn in conjunction with a Polar sports watch, but not simultaneously for the same training session. In the case of dual use, synchronise the two devices regularly and delete duplicate files in Polar Flow to avoid distorting the training load calculation.
That's the real promise of Loop: no subscription, no locked functionality, just one payment. This is a far cry from the freemium models that rationalise data behind a paywall. No notifications. No flashing screens in meetings. You wear the strap, Polar Flow does the rest - it can be consulted on your mobile or browser whenever you choose, not when the watch prompts you to do so.
With up to 8 days of battery life and 4 weeks of internal memory, the Loop operates completely autonomously even without daily synchronisation. That's precisely why it's aimed at a certain category of user: those who want data, not another screen in their day. Someone who sleeps 7 hours, walks 8,000 steps and does two sports sessions a week doesn't need notifications every 20 minutes to get ahead. The Loop embodies this philosophy of discreet tracking - and discreetness is not a fault here, it's a conscious choice.
