The OPINEL N°6 STAINLESS STEEL HETRE knife is the smallest Opinel model equipped with the Virobloc double safety system. Thanks to its folding blade, you can carry it safely and easily anywhere. Ideal for outdoor and sporting activities, the N°06 is also ideal for handicrafts, DIY and sewing. Its size is particularly adapted to smaller hands.
Featuring a 7 cm stainless steel blade, it is extremely sharp, easy to clean and long-lasting. Its specific "Yatagan" shape guarantees great robustness and enables high-performance resharpening. Its safety ring locks the blade in the closed or open position for optimum safety in both positions. Finally, its beechwood handle is the species most commonly used to make Opinel handles. - Sandvik modified 12C27 stainless steel: this steel, which can undergo the heat treatment that gives it its good hardness, is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40%, giving a very satisfactory cutting edge without being susceptible to corrosion.
- Traditional Yatagan blade: Its shape is inspired by a Turkish sword, with a raised tip. The blade is ground to an exclusive cambered profile that guarantees its robustness and enables high-performance resharpening.
- Beech wood handle: Sourced from French farms, it is hard, resistant and easy to work. The handle is varnished to protect it from moisture and dirt.
- Safety ring : Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all closing knives from N°06 upwards. Cut from stainless steel, Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. This process locks the blade in the open position (safety in use) and in the closed position (safety during transport).
