Cross-country ski boots on Ekosport

Equip yourself like a real pro by choosing the right pair of cross-country ski boots from our wide selection of nordic ski boots for menwomen and children. It’s important to choose the equipment accordingly to your level and the future use.

How to choose the right equipment for cross-country skiing ?

No matter the sport discipline, it is necessary to choose equipment according to the future use, as well as to your level. That’s the reason why it’s so important to identify your level and to know what you want to achieve. In cross-country skiing, there are two main disciplines : classic and skating. The equipment varies according to these two activities. A pair of classic cross-country ski boots won’t be suitable for skating.

The classic ski boot has a low upper and a flexible sole to allow you an excellent contact for walking (contact avec ? le ski ? la fix ?), while providing good lateral support. As for skating boots, they are more rigid with a high upper that will hold your ankle. The sole is harder to ensure an excellent contact with the snow. Some boot models have carbon parts, making them lighter and more stable.

What about the compatibility between shoes and bindings?

The most important factor when choosing your cross-country ski boots is to make sure they are compatible with the bindings. You will find different types of cross-country ski boots and bindings compatibilities below:

  • NNN boots (NNN boots stands for New Nordic Norm): NNN cross-country ski boots have two small grooves on the sole and a toe bar in the front part of the sole.
  • NNN BC boots : NNN BC boots have two small grooves on the sole of the boots, but they require an NNN BC binding. The boot has a hefty toe bar and wider grooves on the sole of the boots in order to provide you more stability and control.
  • SNS boots: ideal for classic skiing on groomed slopes. They are equipped with a single safety bar which locks in the front part of the binding and with a single groove which is inserted into the sole of the boot to allow it to be flush with the ski when it’s flattened. Salomon boots will be compatible with Salomon SNS bindings like Fischer cross-country ski boots will be fitted with NNN (NIS) bindings.
