Ideal for adding or modulating braking during a descent, the FREINO from Petzl is a carabiner that lives up to its name by having a braking lug for a descender. This model makes it easier to pass the rope through the spur without opening the carabiner. What's more, the spur can be used to add friction in the event of a heavy load, to help control the descent. The Keylock system prevents the carabiner from unintentionally snapping during manoeuvres.
