The Origins of Rossignol

Rossignol (which is French for nightingale), is a worldwide renowned manufacturer of Nordic, Alpine and snowboarding equipment. Founded in 1907, they initially manufactured wood products, but as Abel Rossignol was a keen skier, he used his carpentry skills to create a pair of solid wood skis. By 1960, the company was producing all-metal skis, and in 1964, released their first fibreglass ski. In the 1988 Winter Olympics, Rossignol supplied the athletes that won six gold medals in the alpine events. By the 1990's, Rossignol had diversified into mountain clothing and snowboards.
