Origin of the Reusch brand

Reusch have been at the forefront of glove making almost since founder Karl Reusch made the first pair in his attic in 1934. Hand-sewn and innovative, Reusch gloves quickly gained a reputation for their high quality and durability. The gloves were popular in their native Germany but not widely known outside and it wasn't until Reusch entered the sports market in 1972 that the brand became globally known. It was in this year that Reusch introduced a range of gloves specifically designed for alpine sports which became instantly popular with professional alpine sportsmen. A year later, Karl's son Gebhard, together with legendary German goalkeeper Sepp Maier, developed the first specially designed goalkeeper's gloves. Just one year later, Maier's Reusch-gloved hands lifted the Jules Rimet trophy as Germany stormed to World Cup victory.

The strengths of the Reusch brand

Although Reusch is also well-known and respected for its range of sporting equipment, it is gloves and mittens that are the brand's real strength. Reusch gloves have been worn by professional winter sports athletes since their first appearance in 1972 and since then almost 75% of all medals available at major skiing competitions have been won by athletes wearing Reusch gloves. This doesn't mean that Reusch gloves are intended solely for professionals. Mindful of the company's roots, Reusch manufacture their gloves to the highest standards with beginners, amateurs and professionals in mind. Using the latest technology and scientific data, Reusch constantly seeks to improve its gloves and today are the official suppliers to seven top skiing federations including Austria, Switzerland, France and the USA.
