Far removed from the world of skiing and ski equipment Felisaz SAS was formed by Frenchman Henri Felisaz in 1968 to manufacture components for automatic lathes. In 1994, Henri's sons, Albert and Jean-Michel, assumed control of the company and diversified into the manufacture of precision parts for motorbikes, Swiss watches and other high-tech products. Inspired by the surroundings of the Haute-Savoie region of the French Alps, the Felisaz brothers decided to use the company's technical know-how and skills and branch into skiing and mountaineering equipment. The company concentrated its first efforts on improving existing ski equipment and developed an ultra-light heel piece for a local skiing team in Haute-Savoie. The heels are a huge success and Felisaz SAS decides to turn its attention to ski bindings under the brand name PLUM.
In 2008, having introduced a very successful range of 100% French-made light ski bindings, the new Plum brand is already receiving high praise for the technological excellence and quality of its skiing products. Continually innovating and improving, Plum spreads its wings yet again in 2009 and launches bindings for free touring skis and follows up a few years later with low-tech bindings for freeriding and splitboarding. The ski-mountaineering world championships in 2013 saw Plum sponsored athletes win no less than 29 medals as the brand established itself as one of the most successful and innovative manufacturers of ski bindings.
Plum's core product is ski bindings and Ekosport stock a small but top of the range selection. All Plum bindings are ultra lightweight and constructed with top grade aluminium, steel and polymer. The bindings are machine cut using the latest computer technology and this precision cut allows for maximum control over the skis and the quickest reaction to course and speed alterations.
Plum crampons are easy to fit and provide good grip for the skies even in the worst weather conditions and are a worthwhile accessory to pack if climbing slippery slopes.
Lightweight and breathable, Plum ski suits are tough and practical but still stylish. Complete with zippered pockets and netting for holding food and water, the suit features Kevlar gaiters which are resistant to cuts and abrasions from ski-edges and rough terrain.
