Tailoring and skiing may not seem to have much in common at first glance but Eider's founder Georges Ducruet was a tailor who loved to ski. Spending time on the cold slopes got Georges to thinking about how much better things would be if he had a warm waterproof jacket. He decides to turn his tailoring skills to solving this very problem. Thus, in 1962 in Annecy in the French Alps, the Eider brand was born. Ducruet named his brand after a kind of duck known for its warm feathers. At the same time as man is walking on the moon, Eider is a huge success. The brand has moved on to industrialised production and it is being used in sporting events all over the world. However, all the time later, Eider prototypes are still made in Ducruet's hometown.
Eider is a brand that produces clothing suitable for every time of year and all weather to be worn by people of every age and gender. There are ski clothes to keep you warm and protected in the coldest winters. There are also clothes to keep things cool in the summer or dry in autumn. Eider blends craftsmanship, technology and a little daring to create the finest clothes. Eider have you covered regardless of whether you love skiing, mountaineering, trekking, running or anything else. There are even clothes for those who are not interested in sporting activities at all.
Given the founder's love of skiing it should come as no surprise that this is one area in which Eider excels. To this end, Eider ski jackets and pants are all waterproof, light, warm and breathable. Almost all of their jackets are built with DEFENDER technology which provides an extremely high degree of both waterproofing and breathability. The fabric is also flexible and capable of stretching to ensure that it does not impede your movement in any way.
These Eider jackets are made from a blend of 40% virgin wool and 60% synthetic fibres. This combination makes a lightweight jacket with thermal properties that can also stretch to accommodate you as you move. Thanks to the breathable nature of the material, it stays cool in hotter weather making it suitable for wear all year round.
