Edelrid are pioneers of high-tensile climbing rope and cord. All Edelrid ropes are thermo-shield treated, which is what gives Edelrid ropes their superior flexibility and handling. A specialised Edelrid heat treatment cure slackens and then shrinks the minute fibres of the rope. This ensures that all Edelrid ropes remain compact and smooth while resisting stiffness and shrinkage. Edelrid ropes also undergo Pro Dry treatment. Untreated ropes can absorb substantial amounts of water, which compromise the rope's flexibility via causing the rope to expand, become extremely heavy, and potentially freeze in cold conditions. Edelrid Pro Dry technology is infused into the fibres and core of the rope at three stages during manufacturing. The result is a quick-drying rope which absorbs negligible amounts of water, is extremely water-resistant, and continues to perform in cold and wet conditions.
