CAMP: a brief biography

CAMP was started by the Italian Codega family in the 1880s. The Codegas were soon designing and producing ice-axes for the Alpine Regiment of the Italian military. Four generations later, the Codega family are still producing ice-axes, and their globally famous brand has developed an extensive range of mountaineering equipment. CAMP retains its original vision of “lightness and performance,� reflecting the need for Alpine climbers to have enhanced agility and speed. Combined with decades of local knowledge, this has earned CAMP a position as one of the most respected mountaineering brands.

The Gear

CAMP is dedicated to lightweight, advanced mountaineering equipment. Embracing the ethos of Alpine freestyle, CAMP's main research and development is focused upon making ascents faster and smoother, thereby unlocking new routes to some of the world's most daring peaks. Lightweight

In keeping with the freestyle spirit, CAMP's equipment is no-nonsense. Their agenda is to be as lightweight and minimalist as possible, with comfort being achieved by perfect fitting and an invisible feel rather than by plush padding. Although this may sound like a safety risk, all of CAMP's products are certified by the Union Internationale des Association d'Alpinisme and the European Union. Many professional mountaineers claim that minimalism is a safer option, arguing that fewer ropes and buckles mean fewer tangles, and this is a philosophy that CAMP is dedicated to.

Award winning

CAMP is interested in providing equipment for all forms of climbing activities. This includes ski mountaineering, rock climbing, multi-pitch climbing, ice-climbing, and bouldering.
